Definition: 3D Interactive environments are often referred to as virtual reality or interactive 3D and have a figurative appearance. Much like our own world, this type of world allows interaction with other (networked) beings as well as manipulation of objects
- Materials
Materials are an enhancement of texture mapping that allows for objects in 3D modelling packages and video games to simulate different types of materials in real life. They are typically used to enhance the realism of polygon meshes and other forms 3D model data.
- Terrain
Terrain is defined as the specific physical features of an area of land.
- Shaders
A shader is the production of appropriate levels of light, darkness, and color within an image, but now performs a variety of specialized functions in various fields of computer graphics special effects or does video post-processing.
- Static meshes
A static mesh is polygon meshes which constitute a major part of map architecture in many game engines, including Unreal Engine, Source, and Unity. The word "static" means they can't be vertex animated but can be moved, scaled, or reskinned in real time.

This is a basic map i have made for a open world game, just showing the basics for a open world map. Showing all the roads and paths, mountains shown by icons or colour depth in the map as well as towns/villages etc. Normally this is represented in a key form of the map.
CSGO Map ( Cache) - CSGO Maps all include either an a and b bombsite or hostages locations, the most popular is the bombsite objective. All CSGO competitive maps have callouts around the map, this is to help your teammates know the location of the enemy. Like most fps there are many different ways to the objective, for an example on this map as a terrorist player if you can either go Long A or Warehouse. If you went mid you can go Tmid or Boost and with B you can go B main OR middle to vent then into checkers. These are all different ways you can take the objective. As CSGO is FPS game the maps have to be a reasonable size not being to big as normally fps are filled with shooting/action.
CSGO map design plays a big role on how CSGO is played, with teams able to different strats using smokes, flashes, Molotov's and grenades.
The video above shows just one of the smokes players can do to eliminate a angle (Highway) while taking a bomb site.
The video above shows smokes, flashes, molotovs and grenades on the map dust 2. This will help players gain control of areas and take bomb sites while playing CSGO. This happens with every map in csgo learning how the map is played and where to throw equipment on certain maps and spots to gain control or to take a site.
This is my completed POV Photoshop sketch for my funfair. This gives you a basic look of a section of my map and how i want it to look and feel.
Firstly, I started off by changing the sky to a more apocalyptic feel theme, then added a more of a darker tint/feel to it.
Next i changed the colour of the grass to make it seem less green and dead. Then changed the trucks to make them seems like they have been there for a while by overgrown plants, rusty wheels and smashed windows to the truck.
- FPS
This is a map from Modern Warfare 3 called Dome. By looking at the map you can tell it's probably a fast pace shooter game (FPS ). You can tell this by the small map and random bits of cover around the map, as normally a FPS have smaller maps to have constant action
- Open world Game
This map is from GTA V, by looking at the map you could tell that is some sort of open world game. You can tell this by the size of the map as normally open world games have a big map for players to explore.
- Sports
This map is from Fifa, by looking at the map you can kind of tell this by the simple look that most sports game use. In Fifa minimap they designed it like a tactics board they use in football, and the players are represented as different colored dots.
